I'm one of those ridiculous dog lovers that CANNOT understand how someone could mistreat a dog or how any dog could ever be considered ugly. Well in America - where all the weird shit happens - they've only gone and drawn up a contest to celebrate ugly mutts. This is nothing new though as 2012 marked the 24th annual World's Ugliest Dog contest in Petaluma. Anyhoo, the ugliest dog has been crowned and funnily enough the dogs name is 'Mugly'. Nawww. OK maybe there is such a thing as an ugly dog. But I'm sure he's just as lovable and loyal as the prettiest dog you could find. Probably more so 'cause he'd be insecure about his looks and therefore needy.
Digital Spy report that Mugly is an 8 year old rescue dog, owned by Bev Nicholson. The little bow wow who to me looks like a litle Jamaican granddad won his woner $1000 and bagged himself a year's supply of dog cookies as well as a VIP star at a Sheraton hotel.
Winning this was no mean feat for Mugly though. Apparently he went up against 28 other strong contenders among which Handsome Hector, Icky and Spam-O-Rama were included. Whatever happened to Ben and Rex?
Commenting on this eh achievement, if you will, Nicholson (probably out on day release) said: "I couldn't speak when they announced Mugly's name. I didn't know which way to look. I was shaking as much as the dog."
Seems they're a bit cuckoo in Britain too given that Mugly's already won himself a "least attractive dog in Britain" award in 2005.
