Amazon have sparked utter outrage among those involved with the charities whose aim it is to help the victims of all Jimmy Saville abuse cases for sending out an eblast, advertising their zombie Jimmy Saville costume.
Coming at a particularly senstive time too, the email is said to have been sent mere hours after the lies and claims made by Mr Saville about the aforementioned abuse allegations were laid bare in transcripts released to the public by the police on Wednesday.
Of course, you will always have members of the public who WILL dress up as such a character, albeit for the sake of an incredibly insensitive joke, but what you never expect is a retail giant such as Amazon, who have PR departments of their own, to make such a silly judgement call.
Peter Saunders, at National Association for People Abused in Childhood, made the following comment after demanding that Amazon withdraw their advertisement. "It is tasteless, senseless, and extremely insensitive... Nobody wants to remember Savile’s horrible face, particularly his many victims."
The costume, designed to resemble the paedophile in all his ugliness, and retailing at £14.99, has since been removed from the website.
