To put it another way, only another 25,000 Americans have to sign an online petition to get Justin Bieber banished over the Canadian border for good.
Of the petition, which was set up a few days after his DUI arrest in Miami last week, Heatworld.com reports: "More than 74,000 people have signed an online petition calling on US President Barack Obama to boot Justin out of the country, and the President will actually have to make an official response if more than 100,000 people sign before 22 February."
By the looks of things, Obama won't have to wait that long. While we're on the subject, who would you ask President Higgins to send over the border? Jedward don't really count as they spend a lot of time in the UK already.
In other Bieber happenings (you know, to pad out this post a bit), Scooter Braun has issued him with ultimatum. Another one. Recounting a conversation with Justin, Scooter told GQ Magazine's March issue: "Either we quit and let you try and find a normal life or you realise that this is what this is and we've got to keep fighting.'
Justin's "father" Jeremy Bieber was present at the time of his arrest and Scooter feels his role as a manager is sometimes very similar to that of a parent: "It's the same as being with a kid growing up, as a parent. My responsibility is to always be there when they fall, to help them back up. But at some point I need to let them fail." And then go talk about it in an interview with GQ.
Justin - whose court arraignment date has been set for Valentine's Day - is also said to have received some stern advice from his long-time mentor, Usher, who reportedly flew to Panama on Saturday to visit the popstrel who is currently holidaying there with rumoured girlfriend Chantel Jeffries.
Justin's mother Pattie is said to have vowed to support her son no matter what happens. That isn't exactly news; she's his mammy, that's what she's there for. In fact, she's more obligated than most given she was instrumental in propelling him into the limelight which now appears to be burning him big time.
