Alicia Keys made waves last year by going make-up free.
She performed at sold-out shows, appeared in magazine photoshoots, and went on live TV wearing minimal to no make-up.
Most infamously, Keys walked the red carpet of the MTV VMAs make-up free and was on the end of a backlash of criticism on social media as a result.

Later she took to Twitter explaining: “me choosing to be make-up free doesn’t mean I’m anti-makeup.” In a society where there’s still huge pressure placed on women’s physical appearance (we’ve made headway, yes, but there’s a long way to go), her decision to not wear make-up has been a bold and empowering one, even if not everyone gets it.
Keys is currently a judge on The Voice and recently there was an incident whereby her colleague on the show, Adam Levine, noticed she was applying some make-up.
He decided to call her out on it, which was a big mistake.
“I joked around with her… she was putting on a little bit of make-up and I go, ‘Oh I thought Alicia doesn’t wear make-up,” he told The Howard Stern Show.
“And she’s like: ‘I do what the f*** I want.’ And I’m like, ‘I love you so much.’”
Damn right.
