A massive operation, designed to stop the spread of "unhealthy and indecent content", has resulted in over 30,000 in criminal detention in China.

The official state news agency, Xinhua, reported that the large-scale operation began with 11 firms being fined for hosting such content.

This was then followed up by a wave of arrests across the Communist region, as part of government efforts to clean up the Internet.

Almost 3,000 were arrested in the Guangdong region alone.

The irony of having the word 'Dong' in their name and arresting people for having porn appeared to be lost on them.

This crackdown on Internet policy follows a general tightening of freedom of expression in China, since hardline Xi Jingping took power and began instigating reforms.

No porn and no gambling in China. Man, what else are they gonna do? Isn't that what the Internet is for?
