Unjoo studied law at the University of New South Wales and worked as a presenter/reporter for ABC TV (Australia) before being accepted into the prestigious Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS). Specializing in producing, she won many important international awards for her acclaimed short films. Upon graduation in 1992, she received the Kenneth Myer Fellowship which is awarded annually to a young outstanding producer. She is the only Australian to have participated in the European Economic Community's Les Entrepreneurs de L'Audiovisuel de European program. In 1994, Unjoo founded Deep Blue Pacific Films, a feature film development and production company and In Deep Productions, a television commercial production company which represented exciting new directing talent for thc advertising industry. The success of these companies was recently recognized with an Export Development Grant from the Australian government. Unjoo has executive produced and directed over 60 commercials and was a finalist in the Adnews Positive Portrayal of Women awards. Since establishing residence in Los Angeles, Unjoo has refocused her work back to drama and has completed her MFA as a Directing fellow at the American Film Institute. In a special feature article in the French auteur magazine, Cahiers du cinema, Unjoo was singled out as a director of great promise.
