Susan Hurley

Currently based in Los Angeles as a concert and film music composer, Dr. Susan Hurley was born and raised in artistic surroundings in New England. She holds advanced degrees in music composition from Eastman and Indiana University and has taught at Indiana University, at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, and in private studio. As a culmination of her training, her experience and her deep interest in all of the arts, she brings a unique creative aesthetic to all of her projects and collaborations.

Hurley’’s film credits include the independent feature WHISKEY RIDDLES starring Jeff Wincott, Sundance and Chicago Festival SOAPY SOAPY SAMBA, HERE DIES ANOTHER DAY starring John Randolph, and THE ORGAN GRINDER starring Thomas Jane and Marilyn Rockafellow She has contributed music to the award-winning documentary THE LAST STAND, narrated by Ed Asner with songs by Joni Mitchell and to god@heaven.

Performed throughout the United States, Dr. Hurley’’s concert music has been published by Ludwig Music, commissioned and performed by the Sage City Symphony, the New Calliope Singers and numerous individual artists. She has been composer in residence at the Atlantic Center for the Arts Lawrence University and in New York with Meet-the-Composer grants. Her Wind River Songs have been released by Capstone Records and Vermont Poems on the Finnadar label.
