Stefan Thissen
Stefan is from Berlin, Germany. He attended public school near Düsseldorf and spent one year as an exchange student in Illinois. He studied biology at University Konstanz and worked as a mission assistant at Chitsungo Mission in Zimbabwe. After school, Stefan spent three years as an apprentice for commercial photography in Cologne, and a practical year at WDR public German TV station as a 16mm AC. In 1989, he started Camera Assistants School in Berlin for two years. Stefan has been working as a freelance cameraman since 1992, shooting TV documentary programs for public and private German TV programs, such as Channel 4, ITN and BBC, as well as shooting short films on celluloid. He met Sabine, his wife, in 1995 and became a father at the age of thirty-three. He is the Recipient of an AMEX/AFI Scholarship.
