Sofia Åström

Swedish born director/writer Sofia Åström spent her childhood in Saudi Arabia and her adolescence in Sweden. With a BFA in Animation from the Institute of Art Design and Technology (IADT) in Dublin, Ireland, Åström has a strong visual sense and an extensive experience working with VFX. She has a diploma in screenwriting and is the founder of the successful Swedish animation company Astrom Pictures. Her animations have become a permanent part of Gothenburg Natural History Museum exhibitions; her shorts have screened at festivals internationally and aired on Swedish television. Åström recently graduated from the American Film Institute Conservatory in Los Angeles where she was awarded the prestigious Women In Film scholarship from Tiffany & Co as an encouragement for her continuous directorial work.
