Simon Roel

Simon, a native Dane, holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Copenhagen where he did not simply study - he was fortunate enough to get to socialize with a wide variety of crazies (i.e. philosophers) - preparing him in all sorts of ways for life as a filmmaker. Determined to become one, he subsequently did an intense one-year filmmaking program at the New York Film Academy. After a quick detour in the Army with one deployment in Afghanistan, his thesis film DARK ROOM got him into the AFI Conservatory's prestigious Master of Fine Arts Directing Program. He recently finished his AFI thesis film PANCAKE CASTLE--a dark coming-of-age thriller set in the remote outbacks of Texas.
