Shilpi Shikha Agrawal

Shilpi is in the final year of her MFA at the AFI Conservatory. In early 2016, she directed a 35mm comedic horror film ‘Do Not Lose’’ (St. Louis International FF, Portland FF, Hollyshorts). Previous to AFI, she photographed indie feature film 'Millie and the Lords' (HBO Latino) and several narrative shorts while freelancing in New York as a cinematographer. There, she also worked as a set lighting technician, most notably on feature films 'Free the Nipple' (IFC/Sundance Selects) and ‘June Adrift’’ and in the camera department at the Sundance Directors Labs. Shilpi was born in India (Jharkhand/Bihar, with additional roots in Kerala & Rajasthan). Her travel in India and interest in South Asian literature, including non- fictional works such as ‘Annihilation of Caste’’ (B.R. Ambedkar), has shaped her. Shilpi speaks fluent Hindi – the language of (Out)caste.
