Sara Ross-Samko
Sara is influenced by a diverse background in music, fine art, theatre, and still photography. Prior to attending AFI, she studied film scoring and worked as a classical trumpet player and street performer before becoming a freelance still photographer. After shooting several small experimental shorts, she found her home in the circus world of movie making, and was spellbound by the sleight-of-hand that was the craft of cinematography – creating worlds and telling stories through the delicate conduction of light and movement. A recipient of a Women In Film Foundation Scholarship, her 16mm short film UNCLE TOTO was a runner up for the Student Emmys. With Director Jacob Andersen, she DP’’d the stop- motion music video AS LONG AS YOU WATCH MY HEART.
