Nilo Zimmermann

A second year cinematography fellow at the American Film Institute, Nilo graduated from Universitat Ramon Llull in Barcelona with a BA on Audiovisual Communication. Previously he sent two summers in New York, at the International Center of Photography and at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He comes from a stills photography background and has worked as an assistant photographer. He has also worked as a cinematographer on some short films, including CARLOTA, which was accepted into competition at the Sitges Film festival. His philosophy on cinematography is that its aesthetic value should always be subordinated to the story; as William Morris once said," Nothing useless can be truly beautiful".
