Maxwell Barbakow
Max is a director/writer/mammal. He graduated from Yale in 2011 with Distinction in American Studies, and was nominated for the Sudler Prize for Excellence in the Arts. He also studied in Bolivia. Post-grad, freelance work for ABC, Participant Media, and Fusion took him around the world, from Laos to Wounded Knee to Rajasthan to Yonkers. He then worked on David O. Russell's AMERICAN HUSTLE. Max's recent work includes his feature debut, MOMMY, I'M A BASTARD! (a whimsical reflection on his adoption) and BYRON'S THEME (an existential comedy he produced for his brother, Bennett). In 2015, Max earned his MFA in Directing at the AFI Conservatory. He is now living and developing two features in Los Angeles, CA. His favorite cuisine, word, and ecosystems are cacciatore, "panache", and Hawaiian rainforest, respectively.
