Loren Grant Herbert

Loren Herbert was born and raised in New York City. HIs love for action films started at an early age when his father brought home True Lies and Die Hard for them to watch together when Loren was just 6 years old. Although Loren didn’’t pick up a camera till he was 17, he was always enthralled with film, coming up with his first treatment at age 8 which centered around Batman and Robin rescuing Arielle from the little mermaid. Needless to say, he was a creative kid.

After attending two summers at the Oxford Media School, Loren was accepted into NYU’’s Tisch School of the Arts for film production, graduating with his first action movie in hand. Operative — Loren’’s undergraduate thesis film — depicted a sensei protecting his student’’s family for a home invasion, satirizing the martial arts action sub-genre of the 80s and early 90s. The film went on to be nominated for Best Short Film - Drama at the Central Florida Film Festival.

Before attending the American Film Institute, Loren worked as a production assistant on major motion pictures such as Sherlock Holmes, Cop Out, and Winters Tale. He also served as an assistant to Director James Toback on the mocumentary Seduced and Abandoned. Inspired by Wes Craven and John Carpenter, Loren is currently writing his first feature — a horror film — but continues to draw inspiration action greats such as James Cameron, Michael Bay, and John Woo.
