Prior to completing his MFA in Directing at the prestigious American Film Institute, Joel graduated from Metropolitan University in Caracas, Venezuela with a Law Degree. He also studied for one year at UCLA’’s Extension Film Production program.

Joel recently directed his first feature film “GOD’’S SLAVE” at the age of 24, shot in four different countries, after winning contests and co- production grants in Argentina, Spain, Venezuela and Uruguay.

Working in film since the age of 6, Joel has directed four Short Films with selections and honors in more than 30 film festivals, including Cannes, L.A.LIFF, La Habana, TNT Project 48, and the Kuala Lumpur International Film Festival. He has worked as First Assistant Director on four award-winning features as with official selections and awards in Tokyo, Shanghai, and the Spanish Academy Awards (Goya). Four of those films were official submissions from Venezuela to the Academy Awards.
