J.B. Sugar graduated from Tulane University and later received his MFA in producing at AFI, where his short film JOHN won the prestigious Franklin J. Schaffner Award. JOHN later went on to win the gold

medal in the 1999 Student Academy Awards and was one of ten finalists for the Best Live Action Short category of the 72nd annual Academy Awards. J.B. worked as a Unit Production Manager, Assistant Director, as well as in development at Universal Studios before starting Sugar Brothers Entertainment.
