Gordon Clapp

Gordon Clapp

Actor

Gordon Clapp (Man Upstairs) has both delighted and exasperated NYPD BLUE fans with his portrayal of beleaguered detective Greg Medavoy. His character's idiosyncrasies prompted one reviewer to write, "Gordon Clapp is sheer perfection at making you squirm when you see Greg." In 1998, the TV industry echoed that sentiment, awarding him an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He was also featured in this spring's blockbuster, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT, and last year's THE RAGE: CARRIE 2.

Prior to NYP'D BLUE, Clapp guest starred on numerous series, including WINGS, CHEERS, NIGHT COURT and CIVIL WARS. He performed extensively in TV movies, starring opposite Farrah Fawcett in SMALL SACRIFICES and John Corbett in THE MORRISON MURDERS, as well as HANDS OF A STRANGER and MISSION OF THE SHARK.

Armed with a theater degree from prestigious Williams College, the New Hampshire native spent much of his early career in Canada as a company member of Ottawa's premiere National Arts Center, and appearing for three seasons in the USA Network sitcom CHECK IT OUT! with Don Adams.

Clapp hit national attention for his work in the landmark film RETURN OF THE SECAUCUS 7, from critically acclaimed independent director John Sayles. He then went on to star in two subsequent Sayles films MATEWAN and EIGHT MEN OUT.

When he's not acting, Clapp can be found on a golf course or cheering on the Chicago Bears.
