His experience with Racer opened his eyes to the world of independent producing and he was soon in love. His experience in performance, film finance and broad business management brings an unusual combination of skills to producing. Before Elliott became a producing Fellow at the American Film Institute (AFI), he produced the award winning film, NIGHT CATCHES US, starring Anthony Mackey and Kerry Washington. NIGHT CATCHES US was an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival, winner of the Seattle Film Festival, winner of the MOMA award, a nominee for the NAACP Image Award and a nominee for an Independent Spirit Award.

Elliott was drawn to the perspective of Usagi-‐San because his aunts are living through a similar scenario. His aunt Catherine has been ill with the sister disease, Parkinson's, for years. Because of the love and at-‐home care of her sister Elsie, she is able to live in a loving environment.
