Elizabeth Becker
ActorBorn in Toronto, Canada, Elizabeth has been active in film since the age of fourteen, when she started acting and studying intensively. In her high school years, she wrote and directed a thirty minute stage play, and became involved as both on air personality and off air technician at a local cable television show. Her first professional job was as a movie reviewer in the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. In 1988, she was hired onto Canada’’s newly formed Youth Television where she worked as writer, segment producer, and reporter on a number of entertainment based shows including, ROCK ‘N TALK, STREETNOISE, and NBA DUNK STREET. Wanting to tell her own stories through film, Elizabeth moved to Vancouver and enrolled in Simon Fraser University’’s film program where she wrote, directed, produced and edited two short films. A NEW LEASH ON LIFE screened at more than ten film festivals internationally and has won countless awards, including the prestigious 1994 CANPRO award for Best Short Film. MISINTERPRETED took a sweep at the university film screening, winning Best Film, Best Director, and Best Editing.
