Dylan Metzger

Dylan has been a production designer for three years, working on a range of feature film, commercial, and television projects. Evelyn is his third at AFI. Dylan graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in architecture in 2011, and his background in this field forms the basis of his design process. In school he became fascinated with photography, and specifically, the frame as a tool for understanding architectural space, moreover, its ability to open up often otherwise imperceptible currents of information. This idea, in addition to his passions for film and art history, compelled him to pursue a career in production design. Dylan’’s inspiration comes from the built world, often uncanny ways in which it informs and is informed by the rituals of its inhabitants, and the interaction of the manufactured and the natural.
