Denise Brassard
Denise has worked extensively as a director of photography on documentaries, shorts and lower-budget
feature films. For the 10 years prior to entering American Film Institute's Cinematography Program,
Denise worked as a feature camera assistant on such movies as BLUE STEEL, JACKKNIFE and
IN THE SOUP, among many others.
Denise received her B.F.A. in Anthropology from Vassar College, then went on to study cinematography
under Walter Lassally at the Maine Photographic Workshop, and has assisted renown filmmakers such as
Freddy Francis and Amir Mokre. In addition to her work as a camera assistant, Denise has studied her
craft from the inside out, having worked for camera rental houses, a film laboratory,
as a surveillance expert and private investigator.
Denise is currently on the staff as an instructor of cinematography at the American Film Institute.
