Debrah LaMattre
With a background in photo-journalism and an MFA from the American Film Institute,
writer/director Debrah Lemattre has drawn considerable attention from national and international
festivals for bringing a sophisticated knowledge of film to complex subject-matter. Her move into
narrative film and television writing and directing is a natural extension of her work as a
playwright and documentrian.
Lemattre''s recent film ''UNDERWATER"" has garnered much interest for its realistic portrayal of
child-sexual abuse. Since it''s premiere at the Director''s Guild in Los Angeles, and the completion
of several public service announcements, Lemattre wrote and directed, many national
organizations dealing with abuse have integrated her work into ongoing lectures and educational
programs.
Her latest dramatic feature, MEET JANE DOE, explores issues of female subjectivity, identity and
Transformation with a film noir style. In addition, ''Inner Limits'', a 13-hour cable series, is being
developed as a collection of half-hour segments that grapple with philosophical questions inherent
to the science fiction genre. She is currently living in Los Angeles.
