Claudette Charles-Barr
Claudette graduated from Brooklyn College in 1992 with a BA in Television and Radio and a minor in Film Production and African-American Literature. Upon graduation, she interned at Scott Rudin Development Department, Flash Frame Films and 40 Acres and A Mule Film Seminar. Shortly thereafter, she worked as a PA and then Production Coordinator and Production Manager on numerous music videos and commercials. She went on to assist Spike Lee in researching his Jackie Robinson project. She was Assistant Script Supervisor on SLEEPERS, directed by Barry Levinson, and Production Secretary on IN THE GLOAMING, directed by Christopher Reeve. She won an Outstanding Programming Award for her half hour weekly Magazine format program CARIBBEAN SOUL. Before coming to AFI, she wrote, directed and produced a 20 minute short film, BROWN SUGAR. She is a member and a mentor of Dreams. Inc., an organization that couples teenage girls with professional women. She is the Recipient of a Women in Film Award.
