Cara Lawson

With a background in behavioral psychology, Cara moved into studying film at Columbia College Chicago in 2011. In 2014, Cara graduated with high honors and a degree in directing. Between undergraduate and graduate school, Cara worked as a script supervisor on THE LOOKING GLASS directed by Academy Award®-nominated director John Hancock as well as over 20 shorts.

After moving to LA, Cara worked as an assistant to producer, Maura Dunbar. Starting in Fall 2015, Cara attended the American Film Institute to study directing. After the first year's portfolio review, Cara was awarded a full tuition scholarship for her second year. Cara's passion is to delve into other worlds. Whether it's another planet or time period, or a teenager's experience entirely different from her own, her goal is always keep learning about new experiences. Her work is always heavily researched as authenticity is extremely important to her. Most important to her is to have an audience experience the emotional journeys of her characters while be transported into new fictional worlds.
