Austin Rourke

Originally from the Greater Boston area, Austin is a writer-director based in Los Angeles, CA. Austin recently completed his MFA in Directing at the American Film Institute Conservatory and holds a BA in Journalism & Media Studies, and Cinema Studies, from Rutgers University.

Austin is fascinated by the onward march of time, the finality (or lack thereof) of death, and the way people respond under extreme pressure. In film, Austin likes to explore these dark, intangible questions but believes that through all the darkness there is always hope.

Austin has directed eight original short narrative films, was the screenwriter on six of the films, and has a number of festival wins thus far. He aspires to continue exploring and comprehending these existential questions through the medium of feature-length filmmaking.
