Anthony Dominici

A New Orleans native, Anthony Dominici received his BA in Fine Arts Photography from the University of New Orleans and missed his college graduation ceremony because he was D.P. on his first 16mm feature-film, FINAL CUT. After college, he started working as a Camera Assistant on commercials, music videos and feature films, including CANDYMAN II and DEAD MAN WALKING.

PBS Documentary programs such as FRONTLINE have taken him from Louisiana’’s Death Row with Sr. Helen Prejean, on DEAD MAN WALKING; to the Colombian Drug Fields, following the life of PABLO ESCOBAR; and around the United States for LEE HARVEY OSWALD, GOSPEL and THE HISTORY OF ROCK & ROLL.

Director of Photography credits include an animated segment for SESAME STREET, short films, and music videos featured on MTV’’s HEADBANGER’’S BALL and BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD. In 1996, Anthony moved to Los Angeles to study Cinematography and Directing at the American Film Institute.

While conducting research for GRAY MATTER, he participated in “ride-alongs” with LA County Coroners. Much of the dialogue from these interviews with investigators was integrated into the script. GRAY MATTER received the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Production Award for the accurate portrayal of science and technology in media.

Anthony won the Bridges/Larson Directing Award and the New York Film and Video Festival Jury Award for GRAY MATTER, and the film was an official selection of the 2000 Sundance Film Festival.

Since graduating from AFI, Anthony has made another short film, PETER RABBIT AND THE CRUCIFIX. He has also directed for MTV’’s REAL WORLD – NEW ORLEANS, THE REAL WORLD/ROAD RULES EXTREME CHALLENGE, and will be the Lead Director on the upcoming REAL WORLD - NEW YORK, the 10th anniversary season.
