Those who watched 'We Can Be Heroes' over the holidays will be happy to hear that the film is getting a follow-up.

The news comes off the back of the superhero flick being projected to be watched by 44 million households in its first four weeks. 'We Can Be Heroes' also came number 1 on the kids lists on Netflix in 88 countries.

The film stars Priyanka Chopra Jones, Pedro Pascal, Christian Slater and YaYa Gosselin.

It follows a tweenage girl who teams up with other superhero kids to escape the government safe house they've been placed in and rescue their parents, who have been kidnapped by aliens.

Robert Rodriguez, who is also attached to 'The Mandalorian' spin-off 'The Book of Boba Fett', directed and wrote the script.

He announced the news that 'We Can Be Heroes 2' is in development.

 

The past four weeks have been busy for Netflix. Aside from 'We Can Be Heroes', 'Bridgerton' is projected to have been watched by 63 million households.

'The Midnight Sky', directed by and starring George Clooney, was also a major success for the streamer. It's on course to be watched by 72 million households in its first 28 days.
