After that bombshell of a cameo last week, this week's episode definitely feels like it's something of an info-dump.

It's not to say that absolutely everything was explained about what's going on in Westview, but it's getting there. The episode takes its cues off of 'Malcolm In The Middle', complete with the wacky man-child-uncle character. We also get to see Wanda and Vision in their comic-book costumes, complete with Scarlet Witch headdress and - as well - Pietro dressed up as Quicksilver.

Evidently, things are getting worse in Westview. There was that seriously creepy moment when Vision saw a woman hanging a sheet of cobweb bunting over and over again with a tear rolling down her eye. You also had all the frozen people on Ellis Road - which we're guessing is a nod to comic-book writer Warren Ellis - and some kind of explainer on what happened to Pietro's face.

Let's dive in.

 

WANDA'S MENTAL STATE IS GETTING WORSE, AND THE PEOPLE IN WESTVIEW ARE STARVING

Clearly, the strain of trying to control everyone's mind is taking its toll, and as we said earlier, more and more people are being frozen in Westview or are simply looping their movements. While it's frightening enough that Wanda has taken over their minds and made them into puppets, their bodies are beginning to deteriorate.

That claymation advertisement basically is setting up the fact that people in Westview haven't eaten or drank anything since this whole thing started, and they're going to die eventually if Wanda isn't stopped.

 

PIETRO MAXIMOFF IS DEFINITELY DEAD, AND HE JUST SO HAPPENS TO LOOK LIKE EVAN PETERS

There was also a little reference to 'Kick-Ass' in there, too. Aaron Taylor-Johnson - who previously played Pietro Maximoff in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' - and Evan Peters - who plays Pietro Maximoff in this episode - both starred in the movie 'Kick-Ass' together way back when.

Back to Pietro. As he said himself, seeing her dead brother alive would have been too traumatic, so it's clearly easier for her to simply use a different person's face. He does, however, appear to have the same memories as him and knows most if not all of the same things she does. He also knows that Vision is really dead - when he cracked that joke about her "dead husband dying twice" - and that he himself is dead too.

 

VISION CAN'T SURVIVE OUTSIDE OF THE HEX / WESTVIEW ANOMALY

When Vision reached the edge of the Hex and stepped outside, his body immediately began to disintegrate. What's more, the vibranium basically tore itself apart trying to get back into the anomaly, which means he can't survive outside of it. This might have seemed obvious from the start, sure, but now we know for certain that that's the case.

 

VISION KNOWS WHAT'S HAPPENING INSIDE OF THE HEX / WESTVIEW ANOMALY

There's a question about how he's able to see things as they are while everyone else in Westview is under her spell. We've got a theory on that one.

Essentially, Vision is a robot. An incredibly lifelike one, who has facial expressions, great hair, speaks with a lovely accent, and so on - but is still a robot. Therefore, Wanda's powers would have no impact on him. When she brought him into the anomaly, she was able to restart his robotic body but his brain was still synthetic - and something she couldn't control. Therefore, Vision is able to see through Wanda's abilities and mind control and determine what's actually happening.

The problem is that the only thing he knows is from when he first appeared in the episode. He doesn't know that he's an Avenger - or even what that is. He doesn't know that he's dead, either. All he knows is that there's something strange and sinister happening, and that Wanda is at the centre of it.

 

THERE WILL PROBABLY BE ANOTHER CAMEO NEXT WEEK

Just as Monica Rambeau, Jimmy Woo, and Dr. Darcy Lewis were packing up and getting ready to leave, Monica Rambeau said that she's got someone to meet her outside the edge of the S.W.O.R.D camp. Our guess? It's going to be someone big, probably another Avenger or someone from the movies, and our guess it's either going to be Doctor Strange or Ant-Man. We're hoping for Ant-Man, because Paul Rudd's comedic energy seems perfect for this show, but it'll probably be Doctor Strange.

 

THE HEX / WESTVIEW ANOMALY IS GETTING BIGGER

The final scene of this week's episode saw the Hex explode in size in order to take in Vision's decaying body and, in the process, swallowed up the S.W.O.R.D camp. Wanda clearly doesn't know where all her power is coming from, as she told Pietro that it all seemed like it just... happened to her.

Our guess? It has something to do with the multiverse wildly expanding her abilities, as it's been heavily rumoured that Doctor Strange would appear in this series in order to set up Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with 'Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness'.
