Although the new miniseries lands on Disney+ later this week, early reactions from critics and outlets went online via Twitter late last night.
The reactions are based on seeing the first three episodes of 'WandaVision', with many of the critics praising the bold new vision (no pun intended) for the Marvel universe, as well as how both actors commit to the strangeness.
WANDAVISION is a tantalizing experiment with shades of Lynch that is almost irritatingly dedicated to slowly playing out its mystery. (I wanted more!) But one surprise: It's funny! The jokes feel at home in the I LOVE LUCY/BEWITCHED-homaging world, Paul Bettany is a comedy star pic.twitter.com/ulKuupVgmH

I got to see the first three episodes of #WandaVision and it was everything I hoped it would be: funny, clever, creepy, and above all, sort of tragic.
The reality is: WandaVision is taking the Marvel Cinematic Universe places it has never gone before, and there's no going back. pic.twitter.com/BzNujPcUtP— Hector Navarro (@Hectorisfunny) January 9, 2021
Nerdist, for example, praised how the show was "funny, clever, creepy, and above all, sort of tragic", while Uproxx said of the first three episodes that it "fully captures (and rarely deviates) from the tone, humor and dialogue from a classic sitcom."
Alex Biese of USA Today said 'WandaVision' engaged "with the TV medium with gusto and affection", and praised Kathryn Hahn's performance in particular. TV Guide, meanwhile, called it "refreshingly different" and called it "a really intriguing start to the Disney+ leg of the MCU".
The first three episodes set up a slow burn as far as reveals and explanations go and my initial thought is that a week-to-week rollout might be too frustrating for casual Marvel fans and a binge model would suit this particular show better.

All in all, get ready for something a lot stranger than you might expect. We'll have a full review of the first three episodes online on Thursday evening at 5PM.
