Netflix has gone all-out on delivering the thrills for this year's Halloween.
It's edging ever closer to Halloween, so expect plenty more horror movies to drop in the coming weeks. One new movie, in particular, has caught our attention, purely because it looks like a return to the slasher genre for a new generation - 'There's Someone Inside Your House'.
From the producers of 'Stranger Things' (Dan Cohen, Shawn Levy) and 'The Conjuring' universe (James Wan) and based on The New York Times bestselling book by Stephanie Perkins, the teen slasher movie has high expectations riding on it.
Directed by Patrick Brice ('Creep' and 'Creep 2'), the horror will follow a young woman, Makani (Sydney Park from 'Moxie') who moves to a small town from her home in Hawaii. Naturally, there's a killer on the loose in her new surroundings, and it's the students in her new school who are being plagued by a person who wears a life-like face mask of their victim of choice. From the trailer you can see below, we're getting strong 'Scream' and 'Jeepers Creepers' vibes from this one - with a 'Stranger Things' feel thrown in with that synth soundtrack.
During this past summer, Netflix released a trilogy of horror movies in 'Fear Street', which revived the horror/slasher genre to minor success. This new film could take the genre to more horrifying heights.
The official synopsis for the film is as follows: Makani Young has moved from Hawaii to quiet, small-town Nebraska to live with her grandmother and finish high school, but as the countdown to graduation begins, her classmates are stalked by a killer intent on exposing their darkest secrets to the entire town, terrorizing victims while wearing a life-like mask of their own face. With a mysterious past of her own, Makani and her friends must discover the killer’s identity before they become victims themselves.
'There's Someone Inside Your House' hits Netflix on Wednesday, October 6.
