Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Moff Gideon in 'The Mandalorian', is teasing seasons 3 and 4 of the Disney+ 'Star Wars' series. This comes ahead of the season 2 premiere next month.
Esposito received nominations for two Emmys at last weekend's awards ceremony. They recognised his work as a guest star in 'The Mandalorian' and supporting actor in 'Better Call Saul'.
Speaking on People (the TV Show!)'s Emmy Awards pre-show, the actor said there's much to look forward to in 'The Mandalorian'.
"We’re living in a universe that is huge and there’s so much to explore," he said.
"So I think this show is going to lay the ground work for the depth and breath that’s gonna come in season 3 and season 4, where you’re really gonna start to get answers."
He descried the 'Star Wars' series as "this wonderful, wonderful new show."
He sang the praises of its "great, incredible technical filmmaking and great writing; and it reminds me very much of a mythological show that you can watch about heroes and villains. And you can watch it with your family."
Speaking about season 2, he said: "The next season of 'The Mandalorian' is going to be very interesting because you're going to start to find out the power of "the Child", what "the Child" really means.
"You will also start to uncover the origins of the Darksaber that Gideon has and how that plays into previous 'Star Wars' history, connected to the 'Clone Wars' and other shows. And you'll start to get a real dramatic sense of the territory."
The show was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, losing to 'Succession'.
It won seven Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards out of 14 nominations.
Season 1 of The Mandalorian is streaming on Disney+ now.
Season 2 debuts on October 30.
