It's been talked about, teased and rumoured for years - and, now, at long last, it's finally got a trailer.
'The Irishman', based on the true crime book 'I Heard You Paint Houses' by Charles Brandt, reunites Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro with Martin Scorsese and Joe Pesci. Detailing the rise to power of Frank 'The Irishman' Sheeran, DeNiro plays the notorious mob enforcer whilst Al Pacino plays Jimmy Hoffa, the labour union leader who disappeared in 1975. Joe Pesci, meanwhile, plays Russel Bufalino, the head of the Bufalino crime family.
The big talking point around 'The Irishman' - other than the huge cast - is how Scorsese had planned to digitally de-aged DeNiro, Pesci and Pacino. Going by the trailer, it doesn't look quite as seamless as you'd hope, but who knows - maybe there's more to it than we've just seen.
Annoyingly, however, no confirmed release date has been set for 'The Irishman' on Netflix, although previous reports suggest an October release date. The movie will have its premiere at the New York Film Festival on September 27th, however there's still no word yet whether or not the movie will be released in cinemas. Currently, the rumour is that there will be a small theatrical release in the same way as Netflix's other big-screen effort, 'Roma', however Scorsese has asked Netflix for a wide release.
