Stranger Things will soon kick off filming its third season and while we do know some plot details there is still a lot of speculation over what direction it will go. The addition of two new cast members today may help give us more of an idea as it has been announced that Cary Elwes and Jake Busey will join the series in guest star roles.
Elwes (pictured in main image) is set to play the role of Mayor Kline who is described as a handsome, slick and sleazy; "your classic 80s politician - more concerned with his own image than with the people of the small town he governs".
Cary Elwes's most famous roles include the titular character in Robin Hood: Men in Tights as well as Westley in The Princess Bride, while he also had roles in Twister, Hot Shots, Days of Thunder, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Liar Liar and Glory.
Most recently he was a series regular on The Art Of More which he starred in alongside Dennis Quaid, Kate Bosworth and Christian Cooke. He also had recurring roles in The X Files and comedy series Psych.
Jake Busey (pictured above) has been cast in the role of Bruce, a journalist for The Hawkins Post "with questionable morals and a sick sense of humour".
Busey's most famous role was in Starship Troopers as Ace Levy while he has also had roles in Contact alongside Jodi Foster, Enemy of the State with Will Smith and appeared in Peter Jackson's The Frighteners.
Most recently, Jake recurred on Ray Donovan, is recurring on ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD and dozens of other guest spots. Busey also starred in 3 seasons of Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk till Dawn. He is also set to appear in the upcoming Shane Black/Fox feature The Predator.
No word yet on when we will get to see season three of Stranger Things yet but we will keep you posted.
