According to The Hollywood Reporter the British actor missed the shows season 2 premiere in Los Angeles after being turned away by customs officials at LAX.
It’s been a rollercoaster week for the actor who plays Jonathan Byers in Netflix’s breakout hit Stranger Things. Season 2 has received largely positive reviews (read ours here) and he was due to take part in a series of promotional activities in the U.S this week.
However, when he flew into Los Angeles on Thursday he was stopped by officials who found trace amounts of cocaine on him.
Law enforcement officials confirmed to THR that Heaton admitted consumption of the drug and was detained before being put on a flight back to the UK. He was not arrested or charged.
The 23-year-old is dating his Stranger Things co-star Natalia Dyer (below), who was present at Thursday's premiere. Heaton or his agent have yet to comment on the incident.
