"I've been struggling since 'Bridgerton', this is the truth."
Ruby Barker, who stars as Marina Thompson in 'Bridgerton' on Netflix, has shared an extremely honest video with her followers on Instagram.
The 25-year-old actor has starred in the supporting role for two seasons of the Netflix period drama, being an essential part of season one, while only making more of a guest appearance in season two.
Her latest post on social media reveals how she's struggled with fame since her Netflix debut. Admitting that she felt "really unwell for a really long time", she says she was in hospital at the time of the recording, but will "get discharged soon".
Saying that "the world can be such a confusing place", while everyone is trying to "do you", she goes on to say "it is mad out here" in a world where she felt "so alone".
After sharing her thoughts on the world, and her feelings for the past while, the star urged viewers of the video to be gentle with themselves if they are also struggling day by day.
She wanted to post her video in order to: "Encourage others, if you are struggling, please do yourself a favour and take a break. Stop being so hard on yourself.
"Sometimes you've just got to take a break and you've got to say, 'I just can't do this right now. I need support'."
"I want to survive, and I will survive," she said. "I'm going to. And so are you."
She captioned the video: "Mental health week is every week for me. Off my chest. I feel like I’ve not been completely honest so this is for my followers. Time to be transparent.
"I’ve been struggling since 'Bridgerton', this is the truth. Thank you all for supporting me, your love holds me up."
