'Raya and the Last Dragon' will arrive in cinemas (where available) and on Disney+ on the same day.
The film sees Kelly Marie Tran voice the warrior Raya while Awkwafina ('The Farewell') voices the dragon.
They're joined by Gemma Chan, Daniel Dae Kim, Sandra Oh, Benedict Wong, Izaac Wang, Thalia Tran, Alan Tudyk, Lucille Soong, Patti Harrison and Ross Butler.
The film's setting is the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons used to lived together in harmony.
But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save the humans.
Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to Raya to track down the legendary last dragon, restore the fractured land and save its divided people.
The feature hails from Walt Disney Animation Studios, which was behind 'Frozen', 'Big Hero 6', and 'Moana'.
This isn't the first feature Disney has opted to put on its streaming service rather than waiting for cinemas to open.
It previously made the move with 'Mulan', also available at a premiere access rate, and 'Soul', which hit the service on Christmas Day.
As 'Raya and the Last Dragon' is also a premiere access release, the price will be $29.99 (likely €21.99 for audiences here, but this is TBC). This is in addition to the monthly or annual subscription fee.
It will be available to all Disney+ subscribers at a later date for no additional cost.
The latest trailer for the animated feature is now live.
