The 74-year old will play Russell Bufalino, a real-life mob figure who was involved in organised crime from the Prohibition era all the way through to the '80s. The film itself focuses on Frank Sheeran, played by Robert DeNiro, who admitted to murdering union boss Jimmy Hoffa in 1975 at the age of 62. Robert DeNiro will play Sheeran, and the film will digitally alter DeNiro's face to make him appear younger and older as the film progresses.
No release date has been set for The Irishman, however the film will be available exclusively on Netflix.
