The Hollywood actor has said that for her latest TV series role, she stayed in character for five months and only answered to the character's name.
Nicole Kidman is hitting our screens later this month with the arrival of 'Nine Perfect Strangers' on Amazon Prime. The Hulu Original sees the Oscar-winner star as Masha Dmitrichenko, a wellness resort director at Tranquillum House, who will put the nine city attendees through their paces as they attempt to change their lives over 10 days.
Based on Liane Moriarty's best-selling book, the series also stars Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Shannon and Samara Weaving, and is expected to be quite the topical series upon release.
Speaking during a recent panel about the show, Kidman joked that her character is "batsh*t crazy", a tendency which she adopted while filming the series.
She said: "I’d only respond as Masha. I wanted a very calm healing energy to emanate all the time so I remember going over to people and sort of putting my hand on their heart, holding their hand, they would talk to me or use my name Nicole when I would completely ignore them.
"The only way I could actually relate to people was that way because I felt like otherwise I would be doing a performance and I didn’t want to feel that way."
She added that the show is "trippy" and "crazy", adding further: "When people say define what it is, we still can’t, I mean I dare you to ask any of us, what genre this is, we have no idea."
Nicole Kidman starring in 'Nine Perfect Strangers' will be the star's second TV role within the past year. Last year, she starred in the thriller 'The Undoing' for HBO and Sky opposite Hugh Grant.
The first three episodes of 'Nine Perfect Strangers' hits Amazon Prime on August 20, with a new episode arriving every week thereafter.
