Netflix's trust in Mike Flanagan has reached new horrifying heights, as the streaming service is set to be bringing another horror series to our screens in the future.
Following on from his success with 'The Haunting of Hill House', the TV series adaptation of Shirley Jackson's gothic novel, creator Mike Flanagan is set to try his hand with another new Netflix horror series - but this time, it's all about children... *shudders*
Originally published in 1994, Christopher Pike's novel 'The Midnight Club' follows a group of terminally ill teenagers who are living together in a hospice. Every night at midnight, the patients gather to share some horrifying stories - which sounds like a mix between 'Goosebumps' and 'Are You Afraid of the Dark' all mixed into one.
Pike has proven a hit in the young adult/horror genre, and his other works include 'The Lost Mind', 'See You Later', and 'Into the Darkness'. According to Variety, sources say that the series would also incorporate other novels by Pike, meaning that we could see a number of series of 'The Midnight Club' in the future if it proves to be a Netflix hit.
According to Flanagan, his eagerly anticipated follow-up to 'Hill House' is still on track to arrive later this year. 'The Haunting of Bly Manor' will see his horror anthology series continue by focussing on a different family being spooked by the paranormal. 'Bly Manor' will be an adaptation of Henry James' 'The Turn of the Screw' and is expected to be "much scarier" than the first entry in the series.
