Now that there's fierce competition for streaming services right across the board, fan events are becoming the way for leading competitors to show that yes, they appreciate and love all of us for watching their biggest shows (and paying their bills).
Last weekend's D23 was the most recent fan event to take place, which was a chance for Disney to showcase everything new they've got lined up over the next year or so in terms of Disney+, cinema and their amusement parks. In a similar vein, Netflix has their Tudum event which will showcase what's around the corner of their carefully protected arsenal of TV shows, movies and games.
This is only the second year the questionably-titled event is taking place, and once again it's all going to be online. If it's anything like last year's event, expect the stars of some of Netflix's biggest TV shows and movies to make appearances in pre-recorded segments where they will answer fan questions and show exclusive clips or behind-the-scenes bits. We can also expect to see some new trailers to drop as well, with a long line of highly-anticipated releases on the way very soon.
And given that this is a fan-led event, we're sure there are some surprises lined up for subscribers too.
Here's the trailer for the event, which features the cast of TV shows such as 'Stranger Things', 'Bridgerton', 'The Witcher', 'Squid Game', 'Heartstopper', 'Emily in Paris', 'Money Heist' and many more.
Big Netflix blockbuster releases that are on the horizon include 'Extraction 2', 'The Old Guard 2', 'Enola Holmes 2', and of course 'Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery'. We also catch a brief glimpse of Jamie Dornan alongside Alia Bhatt, both of whom will join Gal Gadot in new spy flick 'Heart of Stone'.
The global Netflix event, Tudum, will kick off with five shows around the world on September 24. You can watch the full showcase on YouTube.
