There are various live action adaptations of celebrated animations in the works - including the recently-announced live action 'Moana' by Disney - but Netflix are heading in the opposite direction.
It has been revealed that the streaming titans are planning an animated series of one of their biggest hits, 'Stranger Things'.
Although no details are available on the animated series as yet, it will take place within the 'Stranger Things' world and is being developed by Eric Robles (the man behind animations like 'Random! Cartoons', 'Fanboy & Chum Chum') and Australian animation company Flying Bark Productions.
'Stranger Things' creators The Duffer Brothers released a statement saying:
"We’ve always dreamed of an animated ‘Stranger Things’ in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling. We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…"
The animated series is the latest spin-off from the hit series; a live-action spin-off and a stage show are also in the works, with the latter recently confirmed to debut in London's West End.
