'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' is finally returning to Netflix for its fourth season this summer but the streaming platform is changing up how it's delivering the show to viewers, continuing a trend that could be the start of an interesting change to how it operates.
The Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess and Jane Krakowski starring show returns with all new episodes on May 30th but Netflix is splitting the season in two, only pushing six episodes out initially and leaving the other seven to air at a later date that's yet to be announced.

Krakowski made an appearance on 'Today' yesterday to share the announcement and explained the reason for the split, saying: "We're going to shoot them and get them out as quickly as possible so we don't have to make our fans and audiences wait so long."

It's not the first time that Netflix have split seasons of their shows, with both seasons of 'The Ranch' previously being delivered in two parts but the fact that they're applying it to another show could spell the start of more shows being delivered in parts, counter to the Netflix standard of giving us all the bingeworthy content we want all at once.
