The trailer for yet another big Netflix release has landed online today, and one in which involves a mysterious Armie Hammer.
Directed by Ben Wheatley ('High Rise', 'Free Fire'), and produced by Working Title Films ('Emma', 'Darkest Hour'), comes our first look at their newest undertaking. In the 'Rebecca' trailer, we can see Lily James play Mrs. de Winter, a young newlywed who finds herself living in an incredibly gothic mansion with her new husband Maxim, played by Armie Hammer.
Sure to be a mesmerising psychological thriller, the premise of Netflix's latest movie is based on Daphne du Maurier’s beloved novel from 1938, which sees James' character try to rid herself of the ghost of her husband's first wife.
Joining James and Hammer to round out the cast are Keeley Hawes ('Bodyguard'), Ann Dowd ('Hereditary'), and Sam Riley ('Maleficent'). There's also the wonderful Kristin Scott Thomas ('The English Patient', 'Only God Forgives') who looks to be playing a scene-stealing housekeeper in Mrs. Danvers.
This is the latest version of du Maurier’s gothic novel, the most famous of which is Alfred Hitchcock's 'Rebecca', which won two Academy Awards in 1941.

After a whirlwind romance in Monte Carlo with handsome widower Maxim de Winter (Armie Hammer), a newly married young woman (Lily James) arrives at Manderley, her new husband’s imposing family estate on a windswept English coast. Naive and inexperienced, she begins to settle into the trappings of her new life, but finds herself battling the shadow of Maxim’s first wife, the elegant and urbane Rebecca, whose haunting legacy is kept alive by Manderley’s sinister housekeeper Mrs. Danvers (Kristin Scott Thomas).
'Rebecca' will be available to stream on Netflix from October 21.
