There's A LOT to unpack from watching the teaser trailer for 'Riverdale' season six; think we need to have a sit down.
Mere days after the final episodes of season five of the YA drama series dropped on Netflix, we're already only a matter of weeks away from the arrival of season six. And in case you weren't aware, Sabrina Spellman is on her way to Riverdale for what is expected to be one hell of a crossover event.
Yes, the Archie Comics creations are finally getting their interconnected stories shown on TV screens, which will take place during the first five episodes of the new season. Spellman's home town of Greendale will cross over with Riverdale for the event which will be called 'Rivervale'.
As we can see in the promo released below by The CW, Kiernan Shipka's teenage witch will meet up with Madelaine Petsch's Cheryl. She is expected to make an appearance in season six's fourth episode, entitled 'The Witching Hour(s)', arriving to assist Cheryl with a dangerous spell.
Here's the first teaser for the season, which is bursting with more teenage angst than you could shake a stick at.
However, given that the character is dead and buried ('Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina' ended on Netflix last year in what can only be described as a lacklustre finale), we're as of yet unsure how the spellcaster is brought back into the Archie Comics/Netflix fold.
Shipka teased fans of both series on Instagram last week with a picture of her on the set of 'Riverdale'. Showrunner of both series, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, previously said to TV Line about the crossover: "We've been talking about having Sabrina visit Riverdale since season one, so it's thrilling that this is finally happening, as part of our 'Rivervale' special event.
"It's also perfect that she shows up to help Cheryl Blossom during her hour of greatest need. Everyone on set lost their minds – I think fans will, too. It's really fun and special."
'Riverdale' season six launches on The CW on November 16, so expect a similar release from Netflix next month too.
