It was inevitable - another Hollywood actor has journeyed off into space. But this time it's in the form of a new Netflix TV series.
In the 'Away' teaser above, we can see Hilary Swank star as an American astronaut named Emma Green. Netflix has promised an emotional rollercoaster for space fans as Emma prepares to lead an international crew on their first mission to Mars, but is crippled with guilt for leaving her family.
Being a family woman isn't easy on Earth, but now she must reconcile her decision to leave behind her husband (Josh Charles) and teenage daughter (Talitha Bateman) when they need her the most. A journey into space means that the team's personal feelings will have to stay rooted on Earth, as the crew prepare to set off on a new journey - but just how easy can that be? Expect an emotional, touching adventure to take place as Emma's work/life balance is placed under the spotlight.
Joining Hilary Swank, who also served as executive producer on the series, is Mark Ivanir ('The New Pope'), Ato Essandoh ('Altered Carbon'), Ray Panthaki ('Eastenders'), Vivian Wu ('The Last Emperor'), and Monique Curnen ('Power'). Created by Andrew Hinderaker ('Penny Dreadful'), the series is executive produced by showrunner Jessica Goldberg ('Parenthood') and Jason Katims('Friday Night Lights').
