This will mark Cavill's first television role since 2010's 'The Tudors'. Since then he has of course made his mark on the big screen as Superman as well as most recently starring in 'Mission: Impossible – Fallout'.
'The Witcher' is set to be an eight-episode series that will see Lauren Schmidt Hissrich serve as executive producer and showrunner.
'The Witcher' began as a series of short stories published in Poland by author Andrzej Sapkowski in the 1980s, with the most recent novel 'Season of Storms' published in 2013. The series has also been adapted into a popular video game franchise as well as comic books and tabletop games.
