'Fraggle Rock' may have been off the air since Charles Haughey was Taoiseach, but it's never lost any of its impact.
If anything, the recent miniseries 'Fraggle Rock: Rock On!' has only sparked more interest in it. It's now been confirmed by CBC that a full series of 'Fraggle Rock' has been ordered by Apple TV+, with new episodes set to begin production in Canada pretty soon.
'Fraggle Rock' originally debuted in 1983 and ran until 1987 for five seasons with a total of 96 episodes produced. The series was loosely connected to 'The Muppet Show', 'Sesame Street', and other creations of Jim Henson, but was largely its own thing. Indeed, 'Fraggle Rock' frequently featured more musical numbers than any of the other Muppet-related shows.
The original series became the first non-original content on Apple TV+, with all 96 episodes currently available on the series. Last April, Apple TV+ commissioned a series of shorts with famous singers and comedians, including Jason Mraz, Common, Tiffany Haddish, Ziggy Marley, Neil Patrick Harris and Alanis Morisette.
No air date has been set for the new series.
