Disney+ have released one of the 2020 winter warmers, and it looks like a festive riot.
Starring Jillian Bell as a Godmother-in-training Eleanor (complete with magic wand in hand), 'Godmothered' sees her try to keep the magical tradition of having a fairy Godmother alive. Determined to help a young girl in distress, she embarks on a journey to the far off world of... Boston.
Upon discovering that the young girl isn't so young anymore (she's now a 40-year-old Isla Fisher), Eleanor does her best at making her find her magic once again.
The new Disney+ comedy has an element of magic to it, along with a much-needed festive vibe, some stellar comedy from Fisher and Bell, with just a whiff of 'Enchanted' to make it a must-watch for this Christmas period.
Starring alongside Isla Fisher and Jillian Bell will also be Jane Curtin, Santiago Cabrera, and Mary Elizabeth Ellis.
The official 'Godmothered' synopsis from Disney reads:
Set at Christmas time, 'Godmothered' is a comedy about Eleanor, a young, inexperienced fairy godmother-in-training (Jillian Bell), who upon hearing that her chosen profession is facing extinction, decides to show the world that people still need fairy godmothers. Finding a mislaid letter from a 10-year-old girl in distress, Eleanor tracks her down and discovers that the girl, Mackenzie, is now a 40-year-old single mom (Isla Fisher) working at a news station in Boston. Having lost her husband several years earlier, Mackenzie has all but given up on the idea of “happily ever after,” but Eleanor is bound and determined to give Mackenzie a happiness makeover, whether she likes it or not.
