Far and away, the big Netflix show of the Christmas season just passed was 'Bridgerton', what with all its fanciful chortles and full-on riding happening in every other scene.
The show clearly caught on to something, as Netflix reported the period drama romance series hit 63 million households in just under a month, making it the fifth largest launch of a Netflix original series.
With the show left on a decidedly big cliffhanger, the question now turns to when all the Regency era riding will return. In an interview with Deadline earlier this week, 'Bridgerton' star Phoebe Dynevor - who plays Daphne Bridgerton - said that she's not sure when the second season will start, and poured cold water over the idea of it being any time soon.
"I can’t imagine how it would be possible to film under these circumstances. There are so many extras and so many crew members, and it’s a very intimate show. It just baffles me how we would film it under Covid rules unless there was a vaccine beforehand," said Dynevor.
That whole 'intimate' thing she's talking about is all the riding on the show, in case that wasn't clear. Netflix so far hasn't announced a second season of the show, though many suspect it's only a matter of time, given how successful the show was with audiences.
Dynevor also spoke about where she thinks the second season will go, admitting that she has "no idea what they’re going to do with the second season, but I imagine if they’re following the books, then it would be Anthony’s journey."
The first season of 'Bridgerton' is available now on Netflix.
